The historic Midland Hotel in the heart of Manchester will host our morning lectures and didactic sessions. It is a short 10 minute walk from the Farjo Hair Institute where the live surgery will take place in the afternoons, making it ideal for booking your accommodation.
Just over a century ago when newly built and freshly minted, the Midland Hotel was thronged with people of consequence whose influence and abilities made Manchester one of the great cities of the world. Thus The Midland became a crucible for the true soul of Manchester – a fact which is as true today as it was in 1903 when it opened for business.
The Midland Hotel opened its doors to the public on September 5th, 1903, and since then it has played host to royalty, heads of state and rock stars ranging from Sir Winston Churchill to the Arctic Monkeys.
The hotel also played a part in one of the most famous business meetings in history when Charles Rolls met Henry Royce in the Grill Room on the 4th May 1904 leading to the formation of Rolls-Royce soon after.
One of our lecture rooms, The Lancaster Suite, was previously the hotel billiards room. Much intrigue and discussion surround the portrait that dominates the room above the original ornate fireplace. One might presume that this depicts the Duke of Lancaster, however the title is held by the reigning monarch, and the gentleman in the painting is clearly not from the Edwardian age!
